3 Potential Dives: First within the bay, bottom is sandy with clumps of reef and rock, becoming sandier with distance from the shore Second, head south around the pier and explore the area of Long Quarry Point; lots to see in shallow water. However care needs to be taken to avoid fishing lines. Third, head north towards Oddicombe beach, the area at the north of the beach is called Petit Tor Point; this has numerous gullies and caves in shallow water, also a fair bit of kelp in summer
Sea Life:
Scallops, Crabs, Dogfish, Pipefish, and Seals in summer – very varied
Hazards:
There can be a lot of boat traffic in summer (especially now the Cary Arms has re-opened so SMB is essential. Also fishing lines from the pier and mooring buoys so care needs to be taken not to tangle the SMB line up. In caves to north there can be a lot of silt and so vis. can be reduced.
