Kit

While the club owns much of its own kit including BCDs, Regs, Cylinders, Masks and Fins for the pool, safety kit and an 6m RIB named Aquaholic (see below for further details), it is not possible for us to supply all the required kit so some of it has to be bought before open water training begins in the spring.

Club Kit

The club currently owns much of its own kit which allows us to keep diving costs to a minimum. This includes:

  • Buddy Comando BCDs
  • Apex, Scubapro and Mares Regulators
  • Northern Diver Semi-Drysuits &  Hoods
  • Weights & Weight Belts
  • Marinox oxygen kits
  • A range of steel 12lt cylinders
  • A selection of surface marker buoys
  • An 6m Humber RIB
  • Extensive pool kit for initial training

Kit List

Below is a short list of what kit is needed and rough prices. We can provide most items (see above) but you may want to buy your own starting kit too so you don’t have to share. Most inshore dive centres also rent kit. If you want more information on the kit please click here…

  • Semi-dry / dry suit – £140+ for semi, £350+ for dry
  • Mask – £25 to £50
  • Fins – £25 to £70
  • Snorkel – £15 to £25
  • Weights – around £5 per Kg
  • Weight Belt – £10 to £20
  • Gloves – £15 to £30
  • Boots – £20 to 40
  • Hood – these are often supplied with suits but if not they are around £25

While the prices above are for new kit, it is often possible if cautious to buy great second hand kit via other club members, from diving shops or over the internet from sites such as Ebay and the BSAC Forum. We also have a number of contacts from whom we can get very good value new kit. As a result we strongly suggest you get in touch with one of the committee members to seek advice on what to get and where to get it from before buying anything.
