Leeds Met Triumph over EULCC... again :-(

8th June, 2011

Everyone was excited to be in the semis and playing on our home turf in Topsham. Exeter started brightly with Captain Jess Rippin winning the toss and choosing to bowl. Exeter took wickets fairly regularly again but bowlers weren't really consistant enough and Leeds ended up racking up a score of 199 all out.

In their chase Exeter put up a valient effort against some good pace bowling and incredibly 'churpy' Leeds players (doing their reputation no good in our eyes!). Wickets fell regularly however and eventually Exeter slumped to a score of less than 100 all out.

This game was the fourth (and with any luck final) time Leeds Met have beaten EULCC in BUCs Semi's.

EULCC Win the BUCS Premier South Division in 2011!!

25th May, 2011

EULCC finished the regular season with a 100% record in 2011 having won every match. The season started well with a crushing win of 224 runs over Bath. Next up Brighton gave Exeter a exeter vs brightonwalkover followed by Exeter beating Aberystwyth by another 80runs. In the away fixture the margin over Aber increased with a massive win for Exeter in a rain affected match. The return game against Bath was again rain affected, reduced to a 20over game which Exeter won by 55 runs, securing the league win with a match to spare.

The final game was set to be the showdown against nearest rivals Brighton. Again however this match became a one sided affair as Exeter bowled Brighton out of 161, and reached this total for the loss of just two wickets.

All in all, an amazing season for the girls so far, with the Semi Finals against North runners up Leeds Met on the 8th June to come.

EXILES vs EULCC (plus social!!)

4th June, 2011Exiles

On the 4th June the exiles of EULCC wondered down to Topsham to have a knock around with what has become the current EULCC 1st XI. The game, at Topsham, was then followed by a social of epic proportions...

The social was held at the Respect Festival in Belmont Park, Exeter which is an amazing live world music event, free to go to and lots of fun and banter (even without EULCC!!). Members, exiles and friends of EULCC rocked up and enjoyed the sunshine before heading to the Cliffy and finally Bop. It was a cracking day and evening, thanks to everyone who came along!!

EULCC Club day - MCC match!

1st June, 2011Tomo and Jess

The famous MCC came to Exeter to take on the mighty EULCC on the 1st June. This was an amazing event, and a highlight in the history of EULCC. The MCC showed up in their traditional smart atire, and their strong team included England international Caroline Atkins and Exeter Exile Tash Miles.

MCC batted first with Caroline and Tash putting up a strong opening partnership. The MCC batted really well throughout the match, finally scoring 214 from their 40 overs with the loss of just 3 wickets. Lottie Miles taking 2, whilst Clare Thomas got the key wicket of Caroline Atkins through a run out.Tomo

Exeter didn't have their best batting performance, losing wickets regularly. The innings was held together by the inform Clare Thomas who scored another 50, but in the end Exeter fell short bowled out for 180.

Charity Week - March 28th:

Sponsored Marathon Run!

29th March, 2011

No kidding, EULCC ran a marathon in full batting kit in 1.5hrs...Marathon_Team

It was quite an event, organised by Julian Wyatt, teams from the mens and ladies cricket clubs pulled out the stops and ran the full distance of 27miles between the wickets of the Devon Cricket Centre. Although much harder work than anticipated, our slightly diminished team of 7 ran their socks off in an epic effort.

The girls ran nearly 4miles each and with a little help form a few of the lads, got to the end feeling knackered but ready to call a social to celebrate. The money raised will go to CLIC the children's cancer charity. Thank-you to everyone who got involved and sponsored our efforts. See our photo gallery for more pictures.Team_runThe Last Run!

Dodgeball Tournament

30th March, 2011

The much anticipated dodgeball tournament took place on the 30th March. The EULCC team was full of confidence as they arrived although this took a serious knock after watching the first game in their group - Golf Boys smashed their opponents in less than 30seconds!!

In the end it wasn't the most successful performance - 0 wins from 6 games - but that was perhaps an unfair scoreline. The girls put up a good fight and never lost shamefully... honest!!

Ahh well, a lot of fun was had and money raised for charity. Coach Cassie Boyle has a job to ready the girls for next year, but in the meantime perhaps we'll stick to cricket.

Bake Sale for CLIC

28th March, 2011

The girls of EULCC were kept busy in the last week of the summer term raising money for CLIC. Monday saw a successful bake sale in the Lemmy. More cakes than they knew what to do with were donated by members (some were better than others - Thanks for your efforts Jenny!!). The sale was a huge success and we raised nearly £100. Thanks to everyone who helped with the selling, baking and buying.
