EULCC vs Leeds Met - BUCS Semi Final

8th June - Leeds won by over 100 runs

Everyone was excited to be in the semis and playing on our home turf in Topsham. Exeter started brightly with Captain Jess Rippin winning the toss and choosing to bowl. Exeter took wickets fairly regularly again but bowlers weren't really consistant enough and Leeds ended up racking up a score of 199 all out.

In their chase Exeter put up a valient effort against some good pace bowling and incredibly 'churpy' Leeds players (doing their reputation no good in our eyes!). Wickets fell regularly however and eventually Exeter slumped to a score of less than 100 all out.

This game was the fourth (and with any luck final) time Leeds Met have beaten EULCC in BUCs Semi's.

EULCC vs Brighton Uni - BUCS

25th May - Exeter won by 8 wickets!

Expecting a tough match from their nearest competitors, Exeter arrived at Topsham determined to maintain their winning streak. Thiings started well with skipper Jess winning her first toss of the exeter wicketseason and Exeter took the field. Brighton started brightly putting on a second wicket partnership of 150 runs. Exeter stuck at it though and eventually the breakthrough came and wickets tumbled with Jess and Lottie bowling in tandem, picking up 2 and 6 wickets respectively. Brighton posted a score of 166 all out.

Hannah Clark and Cat Hollinghurst opened for Exeter putting on a solid stand against some good fast bowling from Brighton. Cat eventually fell for 27 bring Zoe Burrell to the crease to knock the ball around with some good running. Finally Zoe was caught with Exeter 30 runs short and Lottie joined Hannah to bosh the last few runs. Player of the match Hannah finished on 75*.

EULCC vs Devon Development - Friendly

21st May - Exeter won by 6 wickets!

A team of talented youngsters arrived in Topsham to take on Exeter last Saturday. Batting first Devon started strongly, but lost wickets too reguarly throughout the innings as the Exeter bowlers took control. Kat W grabbed a few, as did Cat H, Abi and Hannah B. Devon were bowled out for 188. Chasing for the first time, Exeter lost Hannah C early but rebuilt well with Claire Thomas (51) and Cat H putting up a solid partnership. Further down the innings, Lottie and Zoe B made sure of the win with another good partnership full of running!! Exeter came out comfortable winners with 10 overs and 6 wickets to spare.

Bath Uni vs EULCC - BUCS (20 over match)

18th May - Exeter won by 55 runs!

On a rainy day in Bath the match was reduced to a 20/20 match. Captain Rippin lost her 4th consecutive toss and Exeter were again put into bat. Despite losing Burgin early, Miles (53) and Clark (28) set a good base for the middle order to have a bash at the end, with Lydia Armitage scoring an explosive 26*. Exeter scored a total of 140- 4. Miles and Burgin opened the bowling and kept it tight early, Burgin picking up 2 wickets and Zoe Crouch on debute grabbed another 2, but the pick of the bowlers was club captain Katy Dennis who came on and cleaned up 4 wickets in no time. Also special thanks to footballers turned cricketers Hannah Riddoch and Lizzie Adams for their efforts. EULCC are now guarenteed a home semi final on the 8th June at Topsham so please put the date in diaries and come along and support.

EULCC vs Aberystwyth Uni - BUCS

8th May - Exeter won by 80 runs!

It was a very windy Sunday for our third scheduled match, and for the first time Exeter looked a little vulnerable with the bat as they lost wickets quickly. No need to panic mind, with Skipper Jess Rippin and Jenny Friend there to get us to a decent total. Again the bowlers were superb, dismissing Aber for 37 all out!
